Jonathan Cuartas is a Colombian-American writer/director from Miami, FL. Jonathan's feature debut, My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2020, where it received a Special Jury Mention. Jonathan won the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation at SITGES in 2020 and the New Direction Competition at Cleveland International Film Festival in 2021 for his work on the film. Jonathan was part of the Jordan Ressler First Feature Competition Jury at Miami Film Festival in 2022, where he and his fellow jury members presented an honorable award to a debut feature filmmaker. He is a Sundance Knight Fellow, and graduated from Miami Dade College in 2016 with a degree in film production. Jonathan is best friends with his older brother Michael Cuartas, who just so happens to be a cinematographer. Selected Press
